ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

We are committed to an environmental policy that respects and protects local habitats and contributes to our community. We encourage guests to take responsibility for themselves and the environment around them. As part of this we would ask guests to consider off-setting their travel emissions and help build Irish community woodlands at www.celtnet.org/off-set-your-co2-page.html.

At Careys, we also have space designated for native trees to be planted and gratefully accept donations to help with this. If you are interested in this, you can read information during your stay and then pick a tree that most appeals to you to be planted the following winter!

We constantly strive to better our eco-friendliness and ask for our guests help in this endeavour. We try to reduce waste, re-use what we can and recycle and compost what we cannot.

To help support local producers, at guests request, we can arrange for an organic food box to be delivered in time for arrival.

We are trying to conserve our bogland and improve it as a natural habitat for wildlife. We hope to run a course in bog ecology in the near future and also plan to have a marked information trail for visitors to help promote understanding of this unique environment.

From such small acts as using locally made environmentally sound cleaning products and low-energy light bulbs through to the conservation of the unique Atlantic bog ecosystem, your stay at Careys will help us preserve a green corner in Kerry.
